Church entity engagement with ACSL
ACSL also reports on the progress of Church entities who are working with ACSL to implement the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards. This includes:
- entities who have attended a National Catholic Safeguarding Standards training with ACSL;
- entities who have a Service Agreement in development with ACSL to undergo a safeguarding audit or review; and
- entities that have already completed an audit.

Missionary Sisters of Service
The safeguarding audit of the Missionary Sisters of Service (MSS) found that it has demonstrated compliance with 100 per cent of the indicators relevant to its operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
There are no audit recommendations for MSS.
De La Salle Brothers District of Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Papua New Guinea
The safeguarding audit of the De La Salle Brothers (DLSB) found that it has demonstrated compliance with 91 per cent of the indicators relevant to its operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
Twelve recommendations have been provided to DLSB to strengthen its safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for DLSB.
Presentation Sisters of Western Australia
The safeguarding audit of the Presentation Sisters of Western Australia found that it has demonstrated compliance with 100 per cent of the indicators relevant to its operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
One recommendation has been provided to the Presentation Sisters of Western Australia to strengthen its safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for the congregation.
Sisters of St Joseph of Cluny in Australia
The safeguarding audit of the Sisters of St Joseph of Cluny in Australia (SSJCA) found that it has demonstrated compliance with 99 per cent of the indicators relevant to its operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
One recommendation have been provided to SSJCA to strengthen its safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for SSJCA.
Marist Sisters - Australian Unit
The safeguarding audit of the Marist Sisters - Australian Unit (MSAU) found that MSAU has demonstrated compliance with 99 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
Three recommendations have been given to MSAU to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for MSAU.
Institute of Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea
The safeguarding audit of the Institute of Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea (ISMAPNG) found that ISMAPNG has demonstrated compliance with 92 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
Nine recommendations have been given to ISMAPNG to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for MSAU.
Diocese of Sandhurst
The safeguarding audit of the Diocese of Sandhurst found that the Diocese has demonstrated compliance with 96 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
Twelve recommendations have been given to the Diocese of Sandhurst to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for the Diocese.
Australian Catholic Bishops Conference
The safeguarding audit of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference (ACBC) found that the ACBC have demonstrated compliance with 97 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
Six recommendations have been provided to the ACBC to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for the ACBC.
Dominican Sisters of Eastern Australia and the Solomon Islands
The safeguarding audit of the Dominican Sisters of Eastern Australia and the Solomon Islands found that the Dominican Sisters have demonstrated compliance with 100 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
Two recommendations have been provided to the Dominican Sisters to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for the Dominican Sisters.
Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate
The safeguarding audit of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (Oblates) found that the Oblates have demonstrated compliance with 98 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
Six recommendations have been provided to the Oblates to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for the Oblates.
Ursulines of the Roman Union
The safeguarding audit of the Ursulines of the Roman Union (Australian Ursulines) found that the Ursulines has demonstrated compliance with 100 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
Three recommendations have been given to the Ursulines to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for the Ursulines.
Augustinians of the Province of Australasia
The safeguarding audit of the Augustinians of the Province of Australasia (APA) found that APA has demonstrated compliance with 97 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
Eight recommendations have been given to APA to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for PCQ.
Holy Spirit Missionary Sisters
The safeguarding audit of the Holy Spirit Missionary Sisters (HSMS) found that HSMS has demonstrated compliance with 100 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
Five recommendations have been given to HSMS to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for HSMS.

Two recommendations have been given to PCQ to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for PCQ.

The safeguarding audit of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions (Religieuses de Notre Dame des Missions - RNDM) found that RNDM has demonstrated compliance with 96 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
Eight recommendations have been given to RNDM to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for RNDM.
Missionaries of God's Love
The safeguarding audit of the Missionaries of God's Love (MGL) found that MGL has demonstrated compliance with 100 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
Seven recommendations have been given to MGL to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for MGL.
Marist Fathers Australia Province
The safeguarding audit of the Marist Fathers Australia Province found that the Marist Fathers have demonstrated compliance with 89 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards (NCSS).
Eight recommendations have been given to the Marist Fathers to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for the Marist Fathers.
Christian Brothers Oceania Province
The safeguarding audit of the Christian Brothers Oceania Province (CBOP) found that CBOP has demonstrated compliance with 89 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards (NCSS).
Fifteen recommendations have been given to CBOP to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for CBOP.
Diocese of Rockhampton
The safeguarding audit of the Diocese of Rockhampton found that the Diocese has demonstrated compliance with 94 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards (NCSS).
Thirteen recommendations have been given to the Diocese to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for the Diocese.
Benedictine Community of New Norcia
The audit of the Benedictine Community of New Norcia (BCNN) found that BCNN has demonstrated compliance with 99 per cent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards (NCSS).
The audit by CPSL has produced two recommendations for BCNN to strengthen their safeguarding practices. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for the BCNN.
Tarrawarra Abbey
The audit of Tarrawarra Abbey found that the Abbey has achieved 100 per cent compliance with the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards (NCSS) and has implemented or is substantially progressed in the implementation of all 80 NCSS Indicators which are relevant to their operations.
Two recommendations have been provided to Tarrawarra Abbey to strengthen their safeguarding practices. These recommendations relate to the implementation of an internet monitoring program for personnel, and improving the supervision of third-party contractors on-site at the Abbey. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) audit recommendations for Tarrawarra Abbey.
Archdiocese of Brisbane
The CPSL audit of the Archdiocese of Brisbane found that the Archdiocese had either implemented or was substantially progressed in the implementation of 87 (84 percent) out of the 104 indicators relevant to them under the NCSS.
A total of 18 recommendations have been accepted by the Archdiocese of Brisbane to strengthen their safeguarding practices. Audit recommendations are classified according to priority and urgency for remediation. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for the Archdiocese.
Diocese of Darwin
The audit of the Diocese of Darwin found that the Diocese had implemented (or was substantially progressed in the implementation) of 92 (89 percent) of the 103 indicators relevant to their operations under the NCSS.
Thirteen recommendations to improve safeguarding policies and practices have been accepted by the Diocese of Darwin. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for the Diocese.
Diocese of Ballarat
The Catholic Diocese of Ballarat has implemented 73 percent of the indicators relevant to their operations under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards (NCSS), as stated in the audit report of the Diocese published by Catholic Professional Standards (CPSL).
Sixteen recommendations have been given to the Diocese of Ballarat to strengthen its safeguarding practices as a result of the audit. There are no Priority 1 (high rated) recommendations for the Diocese.
Presentations Sisters of Wagga Wagga (PSWW)
The Presentation Sisters of Wagga Wagga (PSWW) is the first church entity to be audited under the National Catholic Safeguarding Standards.
CPSL has made 12 recommendations to PSWW to strengthen its safeguarding practices as a result of the audit fieldwork which was conducted in April 2019. Recommendations are classified according to priority and urgency for remediation – there are no priority one (critical/urgent) recommendations arising from the audit of PSWW.
The final compliance assessment (completed at the end of June 2019) concluded that PSWW had fully implemented or was well progressed in the implementation of 61 (98%) of 62 indicators relevant to their ministries and operations.
